Adventure in the Heights Trekking to Cerro Cabras in Potrerillos

About this experience

If you love mountains, adrenaline, and personal challenges, this adventure is for you. Conquer Cerro Cabras, one of the most iconic peaks in Potrerillos, ideal for trekking lovers. Departing early from Mendoza, we head to Potrerillos where a guide provides a safety briefing. At 11:00 a.m., we begin the medium/high difficulty ascent to 2,160 meters above sea level. Midway, we pause for an included box lunch with stunning views. At the summit, admire breathtaking landscapes: the Cordón del Plata, the Andes, the Potrerillos dam, and the Mendoza River. After a short rest, we descend and finish with stretching exercises before heading back to Mendoza in the afternoon.

Guide

  • The snow-streaked summit of Aconcagua rising above a dry Andean valley

    Guide

Aconcagua, and what it takes to walk in

At 6,961 m it is the highest mountain outside Asia, and most people who see it do so from a car park on Ruta 7. The trek to Confluencia and Plaza de Mulas is the honest middle ground.

  • Route 7 running west out of Uspallata between bare Andean ridges

    Guide

The Alta Montaña road, Mendoza to the border

Route 7 west out of Mendoza climbs 3,000 metres to the Chilean border past Potrerillos, Uspallata, Puente del Inca and the Aconcagua lookout. What to stop for, and what the day actually costs you.
