4WD Adventure in Mendoza: Explore the Villavicencio Reserve

About this experience

In the morning, we will depart from your hotel towards the impressive Villavicencio National Reserve, a natural paradise that will leave you breathless. Aboard 4x4 vehicles, we will experience an exciting safari-style journey, touring ravines and unique landscapes in this protected area of 70,000 hectares. Prepare to be amazed by spectacular panoramic views and the presence of the reserve's protagonists: guanacos, foxes, birds and the majestic Andean condor soaring through the skies. Our first stop will be in Hornillos, a true oasis in the middle of the mountains, where nature is shown in its maximum splendor. From there, we will continue to the Condor Sanctuary. The 4x4 adventure will take us down the iconic Caracoles. Finally, we will arrive at the emblematic Gran Hotel Villavicencio, a historic and charming place where you will enjoy a delicious lunch included in the tour. Then, you will have free time to explore the reserve at your own pace (activities not included).

Guide

  • The snow-streaked summit of Aconcagua rising above a dry Andean valley

    Guide

Aconcagua, and what it takes to walk in

At 6,961 m it is the highest mountain outside Asia, and most people who see it do so from a car park on Ruta 7. The trek to Confluencia and Plaza de Mulas is the honest middle ground.

  • Route 7 running west out of Uspallata between bare Andean ridges

    Guide

The Alta Montaña road, Mendoza to the border

Route 7 west out of Mendoza climbs 3,000 metres to the Chilean border past Potrerillos, Uspallata, Puente del Inca and the Aconcagua lookout. What to stop for, and what the day actually costs you.
